Forest Park Elementary IB World S...
Taking ACTION is part of the IB framework of learning at Forest Park Elementary IB World School. One of our goals is for our students to take action as an extension of their learning. We want to provide experiences for our students to learn from; leading them to take ACTION in the service of others. This is a great opportunity to help others and to model ACTION for our students.
Forest Park High School Key Club
Our group would like to help work toward the goal of providing this school with a water well. Many of us take the faucets and water fountains at our school for granted. We hope to raise awareness about the lack of water resources around the world. We will try our best to raise enough money to be able to help this school come close or reach it's goal.
Forestview Middle School
We have the opportunity to provide a transformational service-learning opportunity for our students through H2O for Life. Our students will study issues surrounding the global water crisis, learn about their partner school and country, and will plan and implement activities that raise funds to help bring water and sanitation to our partner school. We want our students to know that by working together, we can make a difference in the world! We hope that all students in our school will benefit from our partnership with H2O for Life. Students will be challenged to think about their own habits concerning water usage, and will develop awareness of the enormity of the issues surrounding water in our world. We hope our school will be committed to make this project for our partner school a reality.
Forsyth School
Fifth graders at Forsyth School focus on ancient civilizations in their social studies units where they come to understand the importance of a reliable water source in the survival and development of humans. Latin America is an area of particular interest to our students, as they study the ancient cultures of Mesoamerica and learn to map Central and South America by memory. Through the sustainability curriculum, students connect this with the scarcity of clean water for many cultures throughout the world today. As part of our community outreach, we would like to contribute to the effort to provide access to clean water to all.
Frances Richmond Middle School
This project is part of the 7th grade Power of We community service program. Our students are passionate about serving projects and communities in need. This project also provides invaluable opportunities to learn about political, social and economic issues that face indigenous populations in our country.
Francis W. Parker School
For five years the Francis W. Parker Middle School has been committed to the H2O For Life Water Project. We have annually organized two days of projects focused on raising awareness by partaking in a series of activities. Some of the activities we have done in the past are a water carrying obstacle course to replicate the daily journey of kids fetching water, performing in a flashmob with a water theme, paintings that hang in our hallways regarding the theme of water, poetry panels, and a 5K walk/run. We have even built a model of a boat out of recycled water bottles to draw attention to a slightly different water problem: the floating garbage patches made up of plastics in our oceans (look up the voyage of the Plastiki if interested). One of the reasons we are excited about this doing another project with H2O For Life, aside from the need and the modeling of empathy and service, is that this is achievable. Sometimes kids are overwhelmed by world issues that seem unmanageable. We can actually accomplish this and step back and feel we made a huge difference. That is optimistic and encouraging. Middle School students have the altruism and energy to change the world. We hope we can count on your support.
Frankfurt International School
We want to make a change locally, nationally and globally. There are 8-12 service groups at the school, and we have all decided that Clean water is an issue we can all support!
Franklin Road Academy
We have learned about the water challenges we face as global citizens and want to be part of the solutions. This year the 7th grade has participated in a Water Stewardship Unit in Geography. This service learning unit has covered academic standards related to the importance of water as a natural resource. We have also addressed social issues related water distribution, water quality and water scarcity. We value education and partnering with other schools. Franklin Road Academy is excited to be part of the team and help complete this project.
Fred Moore High School
Our Interact Club members want to be involved in helping others on a global level. Our sponsor, Denton Lake Cities Rotary Club is active in sponsoring water well projects, so we wanted to get involved too. The idea of helping another school was ideal for us. We are proud to team up with H2O to make a difference!
Free State High School AVID
The Free State Highschool AVID program is a college prep program devoted to preparing for college and serving our community. We want to contribute to the Welch, WV H2O project because everyone should have access to clean water in their home, no matter the circumstances.
