Dutch Fork Elementary Academy of ...
At Dutch Fork Elementary School Academy of Environmental Science (DFES), we are curious about the world around us. Our students are encouraged to learn through their experiences and world around them. The 5th grade class at DFES demonstrated this when they prepared their award winning science projects. Our students researched a variety of environmental topics of which included water filtration and water purification. Students explored methods of water filtration and purification along with their real-world implications. As the Spanish teacher at our school, I saw this as great opportunity connect the importance of clean water and Latin American culture. H2O for Life has presented us with the opportunity to live out one of our core beliefs: Reflection should lead to social action

Robert Anderson Middle School
Mrs. McDowell's College and Career Readiness classes read the book "A Long Walk to Water." Upon the completion of the book, they did a PBL to look at ways they could help address the problem in South Sudan and other countries alike. The students chose to either create a fundraising campaign, create a flyer/poster to publicize what is going on in South Sudan, or research a topic connected to the novel. The students then voted on the best fundraising campaign out of all of the classes. The Chick-Fil-A fundraiser garnered the most votes, so we sold Chick-Fil-A chicken sandwiches. It was a life-changing opportunity for our students to be educated on a major global issue and be a part of the solution. This eye-opening experience taught them to appreciate the little things in life. Also, it was beneficial for them to plan the fundraiser and educate their peers about the water crisis in Sudan.

Wilson High School
We are fortunate enough to have easy access to clean water and sanitation facilities. Even though we take it for granted, this project will help to increase awareness about the situation in other parts of the world.
