At Dutch Fork Elementary School Academy of Environmental Science (DFES), we are curious about the world around us. Our students are encouraged to learn through their experiences and world around them. The 5th grade class at DFES demonstrated this when they prepared their award winning science projects. Our students researched a variety of environmental topics of which included water filtration and water purification.
Students explored methods of water filtration and purification along with their real-world implications. As the Spanish teacher at our school, I saw this as great opportunity connect the importance of clean water and Latin American culture. H2O for Life has presented us with the opportunity to live out one of our core beliefs: Reflection should lead to social action
