Fifth graders at Forsyth School focus on ancient civilizations in their social studies units where they come to understand the importance of a reliable water source in the survival and development of humans. Latin America is an area of particular interest to our students, as they study the ancient cultures of Mesoamerica and learn to map Central and South America by memory. Through the sustainability curriculum, students connect this with the scarcity of clean water for many cultures throughout the world today. As part of our community outreach, we would like to contribute to the effort to provide access to clean water to all.
