East Ridge High School
My school wants to participate in this project so that we can change lives. We are very committed in making this project successful. We would also love to learn about different cultures and this project will give us that chance and in addition, we will be able to learn about water, its effects and impacts. Our goal is to make sure children of this generation get a chance to have a good quality education with good hygiene and succeed in life so that they too can make a difference in other people's lives. We want to expose students in East Ridge High school to global issues and how life is different in other countries. This is a new club in our school but we are planning to make it one of the best so that the incoming students of the next years can keep projects going. Fellow students and I are very excited for the goals we will accomplish, the things we will learn and the fun we will have. This a chance of a lifetime which is to change people's lives and make them smile. Thanks H2O for Life!
Ely Washington Elementary
It is becoming an annual tradition here in Ely for the Student Council to sponsor a Walk for Water and this year's Student Council members are super excited to share this with our student body and raise money for Mlandege Primary School! The Elementary Student Council has had several discussions about how lucky we are to live in Ely, where sparkling, clear water abounds and our students just take a short walk to the drinking fountain to fill their water bottles. We feel very strongly that it is important for our students to help those who are less fortunate than ourselves and are proud to be a part of teaching the students to look beyond themselves and be a positive change in the world. See the latest update about the Walk yesterday. We are still gratefully accepting donations if you haven't yet had a chance!!
FAIR School Crystal
8th Grade Science students at FAIR School Crystal were shocked to learn that many people lack access to clean water. This spurred students to ask the question, "What can we do to help?". Students are proud to raise funds and do something positive to make a difference in the world.
Foley Intermediate School Conserv...
We're a club that is interested in water quality and conservation.
Forest Elementary School
These 4th graders (from 2 classes) are a community of diverse learners who strive to make a positive difference in the world! Understanding that clean water is essential for life, we want to help others to have access to this vital resource that we often take for granted.
Forestview Middle School
We have the opportunity to provide a transformational service-learning opportunity for our students through H2O for Life. Our students will study issues surrounding the global water crisis, learn about their partner school and country, and will plan and implement activities that raise funds to help bring water and sanitation to our partner school. We want our students to know that by working together, we can make a difference in the world! We hope that all students in our school will benefit from our partnership with H2O for Life. Students will be challenged to think about their own habits concerning water usage, and will develop awareness of the enormity of the issues surrounding water in our world. We hope our school will be committed to make this project for our partner school a reality.
Giving Tuesday
This year we’re raising money to support clean water for Good Samaritan Primary School in Uganda. Your support can really make a difference for kids in Uganda. Good Samaritan Primary School currently has a rainwater collection tank attached to their facility, but with over 1,500 people relying on it each day, its supply simply isn’t sufficient to provide adequate water for the washing, cooking, and drinking needs of the students and staff. By adding a second rainwater collection system to the school’s facilities, we will be able to significantly bolster the school’s water supply and, in doing so, improve the ability of students to succeed in their educational aspirations and secure a bright future. Our implementing partner, Ugandan Water Project, will erect a 10,000-liter polyethylene tank on a base made of brick, hard core and cement. Once cured, their crew will then place the tank on the base and make an overflow hole in the top of the structure and attach a pipe to it that will extend six inches beyond the perimeter of the base. Crew members will also attach face boards to the roof of the building adjacent to the tank in order to create a suitable surface to which they can attach the gutters that will allow water to flow from the metal roof to the tank. Just before the outlet pipe reaches the tank, a “T” joint will be inserted to create a first flush, a rudimentary filtration system that reduces the amount of debris and contaminants that enter the tank. The crew will then construct a protective barrier around the tank and first flush, as well as a tap stand located slightly downhill of the tank. The rainwater collection system will be paired with four Sawyer Point One water filters in order to ensure that all water collection from the tank will be safe for drinking.
Glendale Elementary School
- Glendale Student Council members were given a choice of several different issues they could fund raise for to help a developing nation - Nearly all members expressed the desire to help a developing village have better access to clean water - Glendale students are smart! Donating money for access to clean water provides the most "bang for your buck" in terms of donation dollars. Providing clean water to a village is one of the most effective ways to improve the lives of villagers in developing nations
