It is an annual tradition here in Ely for the Student Council to sponsor a Walk for Water and this year's Student Council members are again excited to share this with our student body!
We live in Ely, where sparkling, clear water abounds and our students just take a short walk to the drinking fountain to fill their water bottles. We feel very strongly that it is important for our students to help those who are less fortunate than ourselves and are proud to be a part of teaching the students to look beyond themselves and be a positive change in the world.
This year, we plan to be walking on May 20 and have started an "in school" fundraising campaign to "Fill the Bucket" before that day. One student asked, "What if we need a bigger bucket?" Collectively the conversation then excitedly turned to having to get bigger and bigger buckets to fill.
If you are willing or able to donate spare change or dollars, the Student Council would be appreciative of your donation to help the South Sudan School in Sudan, Northeast Africa to dig a well for a cleaner and closer water source.
We are also gratefully accepting online donations.
