Lanier MS IB Action Project/ D. E...

For my 8th grade IB project this year, I decided to take action by raising awareness about the water crisis and fundraising to donate to the cause.

Lauren's Birthday

In Lieu of gifts at her twelfth birthday party, Lauren asked her friends for donations to help support a water and sanitation project at Kalonga Secondary School in Malawi.

Most Holy Trinity Catholic School

We want to help children of our age group who are in need. Please help us reach our goal!

Petrolia- Gates Class

We are a group of 3rd-6th graders that having been reading the novel, "A Long Walk to Water." The students have been moved by this story and want to help make a difference.

St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica Sc...

Stephen F. Austin State University

We are college students, who are working to become elementary school teachers. In our class, we are learning the best ways to teach social studies to elementary students. We have learned that service learning is a great way to get students involved and engaged in social studies. Our class decided that the best way to learn about service learning is to jump in and get involved. We hope to inform other students on campus, as well as people in the community, about the water problems around the world. Our goal is to raise awareness, and help make a difference in the lives of primary students on the other side of the globe.

St. Joseph Catholic School

We are teaching mission awareness in our youth, along with Catholic Social Teaching to instill how important water is and prompt Catholic Social Justice.

St. Rita Catholic School

Through the Saint Rita One Read program we hope to facilitate conversation and discussion of important topics among our diverse community members. During the 2016-2017 school year, we will read the books A Long Walk to Water by Linda Sue Park and The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind (Young Readers Edition) by William Kamkwamba. Classroom and community activities will spark learning about scarce resources around the world, especially water. Students will be encouraged to become responsible consumers of resources. The Walk for Water will challenge the students to raise money and awareness in the community and test themselves physically as they experience just a fraction of what young people around the world must endure on a daily basis.

The Emery/Weiner School

The 7th graders at Emery/Weiner are so excited to participate in this project with H2O For Life! We are currently learning about Ancient Civilizations, and learning about access to clean water ties in very well while learning about the development of agriculture and the River Valley Civilizations. Additionally, this project will allow us to learn more about what life is like for people in other parts of the world. We are quite fortunate living here in Houston, so it's wonderful to be able to help out those who don't have as much as we do and to appreciate what we have. We can't wait to get started!

Tomball Intermediate School

Tomball Intermediate School Student Council prides itself in actively serving the school and local community. We decided this year to also find a way to help others in the global community. We understand the importance of water and want to help another school.

Trevor's Birthday

In Lieu of gifts at his tenth birthday party, Trevor asked his friends for donations to help support a water and sanitation project at Kalonga Secondary School in Malawi.

University of Texas Elementary

We believe that we have a responsibility to help children everywhere have clean water, healthy living conditions, and a good education.
