Learning about hydraulics leads to fishing lure fundraiser
Sedgwick Elementary School 4th graders studied hydraulics and built hydraulic arms. The students, from Maine, utilized their knowledge to design and create fishing lures using a hydraulic press. The proceeds from lure sales will go toward their school-wide fundraiser to help build a well in South Sudan.
“Here are some photos of the kids learning about hydraulics by making hydraulic arms with an electromagnet picker-upper. They built these and presented them to the school board relating their understanding of how hydraulics work, then they put their knowledge into practice by using a small hydraulic press to form domed fishing lures that will be sold as part of our H2O for Life fundraising efforts. The photos show the students making lures with the press and making hydraulic arms.”
