Pinecrest Academy is a second-year charter school in Northern Nevada. As the students read “A Long Walk to Water”, they wanted to incorporate a service-learning project. The 5th grade students are driving the fundraiser as they learn valuable skills along with the knowledge that they have the power to change the world! Here’s what they have been up to:

We are creating amazing connections as we work through human impact on the environment and read “A Long Walk to Water”. Our students created a reflection wall after completing the book. I have included some samples of their amazing work below.

We are excited to be working on our second-quarter fundraiser. We have partnered with a local florist to offer gift cards for flowers. Purchase a “12 Months of Flowers” gift certificate for $40.00 ($180.00 value). The card can be redeemed for a bouquet of flowers from Sparks Florist every month for a year. $10.00 for every gift card purchase will be applied to our fundraising campaign to support a borehole well in South Sudan.
