The Haverford School Walk for Water
Posted by Steve Hall on August 16, 2017
In second grade, students begin a 10-week study of Africa. Cheered on by their Lower School classmates and teachers, friends, and parents, the boys walk three miles carrying gallons of water, simulating the hardship that many African children endure to access fresh water. Their pre-kindergarten “buddies” join them for a portion of the walk.
The boys also create African walking sticks depicting a life lesson and perform African drumming and dance as part of their studies.
