Rush City Walk for Water
At the end of last year’s school year, Patty Hall was invited to Rush City to present to the entire middle and high school student body. The Environmental Class students were hosting events and actions to raise funds for a partner school in Uganda. They set an original goal of $500, but quickly realized they would easily surpass that amount. Their final total of funds raised after an amazing Walk for Water with all school participation was $1,500!
On the day of the walk, each all school class from 7-12 had bright shirts on, and all students walked 3 miles carrying jugs of water to simulate what their peers around the world do every- single- day! The school recently acquired a drone through a grant, and students and staff enjoyed using the drone to follow the walk. As a final activity- each teacher chose one student to sprint around the route. Each teacher would donate funds for the event. There was a lot of cheering and many teachers and students ended up wet! Superintendent Teresa Dupre, stated:
“It was heart warming to witness and take part in our first Walk for Water! Our entire 7-12 student body joined in and exceeded our goal by $1,000.00. Yet what was truly important was their service to others! It was an honor to support the mission of H2O for Life.”
We hope Rush City will join us again this year to participate in our service-learning project that provides water and sanitation for students around the world while changing the way we think about water!
