Alyse Lara

Hello, my name is Alyse and I am a Westridge 8th Grader! Last year I had been learning about the global water crisis. This year I am a club head of the Westridge Water Warriors. A club devoted to help be part of the solution. Many environments have few resources to build water filters and, mainly girls, must tread 3-6 miles carrying an average of 40 pounds to bring water to their homes. Many times this water is unsafe but comes from the only source of water available. Every day the girls miss out on education opportunities, like school, because of the lack of clean water. The Water Warriors have an event to raise awareness on Saturday, November 9. On this day we will have a simulation at the Rose Bowl of what girls our age in different countries go through. Access to water can break the cycle of poverty and also lead to food security. By donating any amount to our cause you are contributing to help increase access to safe and clean water sources.

Some facts about water are that less than 1% of Earth's water is available for people to use, and 2 billion people in the world lack access to safe drinking water. Did you know that around 3.5 million people in developing countries die each year from water-related diseases?! Even the smallest of impacts on this cause may save one of these lives.

I encourage you to donate any amount if you can. If not, you are still helping the cause by learning more about the water crisis. Every dollar helps change lives. Thank you!!
