Project
Bukwaya Primary School
Bukwaya Primary School is located in the Iganga district of Uganda. Currently, the school has a pair of rainwater harvesting tanks that work great during and immediately after the rainy season but remain empty for the majority of the year. The most often-used source of water is a community well almost a mile away.
Due to the lack of safe water sources in the area, the lines at the community well are always long, and the students miss a lot of class time walking to and from the well. Community members also waiting in line for the water often get upset at the children from the school, saying they are not from the area and that the well water was not for the school. The children would love to have their own well on the school property so that they no longer have to wait in line and get into arguments with adults about water.
Project Proposal: New Borehole Well
Our implementing partner, Drop in the Bucket, will drill a well that will provide safe water on the school grounds.

H2O for Life is not a WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene) project implementer. We have partnerships with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) implementing WASH in Schools projects around the world. Our NGO partners match funds needed for each school project. We also have a generous donor that provides us with an interest-free loan that, along with matching funds, allows for many projects to be started or possibly even completed before total funds have been raised. In rare situations we reserve the right to reallocate funds to alternate project(s).
