If someone told you to walk for 7 miles in the heat, would you do it? What if they told you to walk 7 miles in the heat just so you could drink water? People in the African countries of Uganda, Malawi, Kenya, and Ghana, face this challenge every day. They walk 7 miles to get water for their daily needs; drinking water, cooking, and washing. Women and girls are often affected the most because they have to get water for their families every day, meaning they don’t have enough time to attend school. Here in America, we don’t need to worry about having enough water to complete these tasks. At Westridge School for girls, we believe that everyone should be able to access clean water and school. Water Warriors is a group that raises funds to build new wells and repair existing ones in these 4 African countries. We are walking with water for 2.5 miles on Saturday November 9 and on Saturday April 12 Westridge School for Girls in Pasadena will be hosting a fair to raise more funds. Feel free to join either of these activities. Any donation would be greatly appreciated.
