Posted by Steve Hall on September 9

School: Primero de julio Location: Arenales, Chinacla, La Paz, Honduras Benefited Population: 75 students & 3 teachers Project Review Our implementing partner, Cova, recently installed a school-based water purification system, locally known as a Sistema Combinado (Combined System), to provide safe drinking water for students and staff. This system functions as a compact treatment solution with two key components occurring simultaneously: 1) the reduction of turbidity (removal of suspended particles to improve water clarity), and 2) disinfection to eliminate harmful pathogens. Together, these processes ensure that water is both visibly clean and safe for consumption. The system was installed by Cova […]

Transforming Futures at Mgongo Primary School, Tanzania: At Mgongo Primary School in Tanzania, the quest for an education used to come at a steep price. Every single day, 377 students—from tiny nursery pupils to Class Seven leaders—and their 15 dedicated teachers faced a constant struggle: a severe lack of safe, clean water. Without a reliable water source on school grounds, students were forced to spend crucial hours of their school day fetching water from hand-dug wells and contaminated open pools. Instead of sitting in class, learning, and dreaming of their futures, children were carrying heavy buckets of muddy water. Even worse, […]

Clean Water Arrives in Iringa!

Transforming Lives at Saadani Primary School, Tanzania: For years, every morning at Saadani Primary School in the Mseke ward of the Iringa Rural District told the same exhausting story. Before opening a book or writing a single lesson, the school’s 427 pupils faced a heavy burden: carrying buckets from home or journeying to collect water from unsafe, distant sources. This daily struggle stole time from class, drained young minds and energy, compromised basic sanitation and health, and hit young girls especially hard. Today, that story changes completely. To transform the daily lives and learning conditions at Saadani Primary, our implementing partner, […]

Thank you for bringing safe water to Jenna Junior School!

Posted by Steve Hall on October 5

Jenna Junior School Kigoogwa, located in Uganda’s Muyenje community, relied on water from a protected dug well but continually found its needs unmet. The well does not provide enough water for the school, and the water it does produce is of poor quality – it is cloudy and has a bad taste. Additionally, this well is located within 10 meters of a latrine, indicating that the water is unsafe for consumption. The school boiled its water, but that does not remove all the contaminants. To protect the health of students and teachers, Jenna Junior School Kigoogwa required a solution that provided […]

Safe Water for Twins Modern Primary Students

Posted by Steve Hall on October 5

Thank you for bringing safe water to Twins Modern Primary School, Kyabakagga! The Ugandan Water Project, our implementing partner, erected a 10,000-liter polyethylene tank on a base made of brick, hardcore, and cement. Once cured, the crew placed the tank on the base and created an overflow hole in the top of the structure, attaching a pipe to it that extends six inches beyond the perimeter of the base. Crew members also attached face boards to the roof of the building adjacent to the tank to create a suitable surface to attach the gutters, which will allow water to flow from […]

Clean Water Arrives at Pabidi School

Posted by Steve Hall on October 8

For the 441 students at Pabidi in the Pabbo sub-county of Amuru district, Uganda, getting a drink of water used to mean taking a risk. The school’s only water source was a hand-dug waterhole. Because it relied on shallow groundwater, it was constantly exposed to surface runoff and contamination—making it unsafe for the children to drink. Now, that has changed. Thanks to our implementing partner, Drop in the Bucket, a new borehole well has been drilled right on the school grounds, providing clean, safe water for all 441 students and their teachers. A special thank you to The Haverford School in […]

Bringing Safe Water to Paryem

Posted by Steve Hall on October 8

For the 421 students at Paryem—located in the Palaro sub-county of Gulu district, Uganda—access to clean, safe water used to be a daily struggle. Until recently, the school relied on just two unreliable sources: a seasonal spring that dried up completely during dry spells, and a contaminated water hole. Neither provided safe water for the students. Everything changed thanks to our implementing partner, Drop in the Bucket, who drilled a brand-new borehole well directly on the school grounds. Paryem students now have a permanent, safe source of clean drinking water right where they learn. A huge thank you to our supporters […]

Pure Water, Brighter Futures at Okir Ladek Okwok

Posted by Steve Hall on October 8

In the Koch-Goma sub-county of Nwoya district, Uganda, 425 students at Okir Ladek Okwok Primary School used to face a daily health crisis. The school relied on a spring over half a mile away. Shared with local livestock, the groundwater was unsafe to drink and repeatedly triggered stomach illnesses and skin infections, forcing children to miss school. Thanks to our implementing partner, Drop in the Bucket, a new borehole well was drilled right on school grounds—giving students immediate access to clean, safe drinking water. Now, attendance is up, illness is down, and 425 children can focus on their education. A huge […]
