The Worth of Water
“When the well’s dry, we know the worth of water.” – Benjamin Franklin
The students quickly became motivated to complete a service project for a village in Sudan. We chose a location that needed a well dug to provide water for the whole community and surrounding villages. No longer would these citizens have to walk up to three miles a day for water. The students joined the organization H2O for Life, and through pledges, donations, and our supportive school community, $2,766.78 was raised. As our culmination activity, the sixth grade completed a 5k walk on March 3rd, carrying 1-gallon jugs of water to further understand what others must go through to obtain this valuable resource. We are so proud of these sixth-grade Dragons and know they learned a valuable lesson that will last a lifetime.
