CHCA Eagles Water for Life Project
Originally by Leon Bao
When the CHCA Eagles came to participate in the H2O for Life project, it was already halfway through the school year, but the students started off the project with great enthusiasm. One of the activities they did was the “Water Talk” at the school chapel, where they addressed the current global water crisis and the need for safe drinking water, clean sanitation, and hygiene education at our partner school in Nigeria. With the support from the School’s SOS (Student Organized Service) counselors, the student volunteers did an Arts for Water painting demonstration and sold their artworks at the school’s annual ArtBeat festival. Another recent activity was the bake sale, where six of the student volunteers brought in baked goods and sold them at lunchtime. In addition, the team leader, Leon Bao, was one of the youngest participants to run a half-marathon at Cincinnati’s Flying Pig Marathon this year, running to raise awareness and funds for the Eagles Water for Life project. With all of these efforts, the Eagles Water for Life project has effectively brought awareness of the water crisis to the CHCA school community, and the donations received to date are on track to hit this year’s pledge target.
