Batey Los Robles - Barahona
Project Complete!
- We installed an ultraviolet water purification system with a carbon and sediment prefilter. The school originally did not have potable water access and was buying water at the hefty price of $45/month.
- We built hand-washing and drinking water stations for the students, with three taps and a tiled station.
- We provided a 10-month supply of soap for the school through our partnership with the Global Soap Project so that the children would have constant access to soap for hand-washing.
- We installed an 800-gallon potable water tank above the school to store the clean water.
- We installed sinks in the bathrooms for the students to wash their hands after using the toilets.
- We had a 4-day seminar for all the students in Los Robles, teaching them the purpose of the project, how to use the new services, and basic health and hygiene practices related to water and hand-washing.
H2O for Life partners with experienced NGO organizations around the world that build and support clean water, sanitation, and hygiene education projects in schools. These NGO partners cover half the total cost of every project funded through H2O for Life.
When students raise money for a project, 90% of the funds go directly to the project, and 10% supports the work that makes the project possible. This includes choosing trusted partners, managing funds responsibly, checking on projects, and reporting back so students can see the impact of their work.
This helps ensure every project is done well, stays sustainable, and truly changes lives.
In rare situations, we reserve the right to reallocate funds to alternate project(s).
