Meet Margine Miranda

Margine Miranda Abarca, is 11 years old, in grade 5 in the Flor de Sacuanjoche school. This school is in the community of La Flor, Nicaragua.

When Margine is asked what is her favorite activity in school, she nervously responds that she likes recess because she can play games with her friends. Also, she likes to plant trees and help with the cleaning in the school. She comments that each day she learns important things and she loves math.

She also comments, “I don’t like the latrines, I am afraid to go there by myself because the bench is bad and it is full. When I go, I get 2 friends to go with me to guard the door so others can’t see me from the road.” Margine says this because the latrine has no doors and is very run down.

She tells us she would be happy and excited if there were new latrines because the school need them. Also, because her little sister will start school next year and she would be afraid for her to use the current latrines as they are.

Her dream is to study veterinary medicine because she loves animals.

 

Margine Miranda Abarca, 11 años de edad actualmente cursa el 5to grado de primaria en la escuela Flor de Sacuanjoche, esta escuela pertenece a la Comunidad La Flor.

Se le pregunto a margine que actividad le gustaba hacer en la escuela, ella nerviosa respondió” me gusta la hora de recreo porque jugamos con mis amigas, pero lo que más me gusta es sembrar árboles y apoyar en la limpieza de mi escuela” comenta que cada día aprende cosas importantes y que le encantan las matemáticas.

También comento “No me gustan las letrinas, tengo miedo ir sola porque el banco esta malo, esta llena, cuando voy invito a 2 amigas para que se ponga en la puerta y tapen para que no me miren las personas que pasan por la carretera” esto lo dijo Margine porque la letrina no tiene puertas y deterioradas.

Nos dice que se sentiría feliz y emocionada si tuviera letrinas nuevas porque su escuela las necesita, además que su hermanita entrara a la escuela el próximo año y le diera mucho miedo si su hermana usa las letrinas actuales en el estado que se encuentran.

El Sueño de Margine es estudiar Medicina veterinaria porque le encantan los animales.
