Our Commitment to DEIJ

At H2O for Life, our greatest privilege is to inspire youth to action to address the global
water crisis. We know that H2O for Life can most effectively fulfill its mission through
collaboration and inclusion across differences in nationality, race, age, gender identity,
sexual orientation, religion, and economic circumstance. We strive to reflect this
diversity and inclusion in all our practices. Together we work for just and equitable
access to clean water.

Diversity
At H2O for Life, we want to ensure that the conversation about the global water crisis
happens in as many classrooms as possible. We aim to make our resources as

universally available as we can by making our programming accessible to all youth and
all classrooms without barriers and without bias.

Equity
We recognize that there can be barriers that keep educators and youth from
participating in our programming. H2O for Life is dedicated to reducing the barriers to
participation for as many schools as possible. We do this by ensuring that participation
in our programming remains free to anyone who wants to use it. We will also continue to
grow programs that provide schools with financial support to launch their service-
learning projects with H2O for Life.

Inclusion
We endeavor to promote equal access to opportunities and resources for everyone.
We recognize and value individual diversity, including differences in learning ability,
ethnicity, culture, and social and economic dimensions. We strive to accomplish this by
ensuring the representation and engagement of diverse perspectives within our
organization and with our partners.

Justice
Access to clean water is a basic and essential human right. The fact that every person
does not have access to clean water and sanitation is a profound injustice. The global
water crisis meets at the intersections of environmental, economic, and social justice.
Participants in our programming will come to understand that access to clean water and
sanitation is a justice issue, not simply a philanthropic endeavor.

Value Statements

1. Access to clean water is a basic human right. The global water crisis is an
   intersectional problem connected to environmental, economic, and social justice.
   We recognize that there are environmental and historical injustices that need to
   be addressed if we are to solve this crisis.
2. Youth are the leaders of tomorrow. As such, they need the opportunities to
   develop knowledge and acquire skills to take on the immense global issue of the
   water crisis.
3. H2O for Life strives to meet the specific needs of schools, educators, and youth
   in their pursuit of quality education. Our staff is consistently learning about the
   topics we teach. We do this by listening to our stakeholders, ensuring we present
   diverse perspectives in our materials, removing systemic barriers from
   participation, and keeping up-to-date with industry best practices.
4. The best leaders for these projects come from the communities facing these
   problems. We operate primarily as educators and connectors. Our implementing
   partners have deep roots in the region where these projects are fulfilled. This
   arrangement ensures quality, culturally appropriate, and sustainable projects.
5. The global water crisis is immediate. Its impact is universal. No one should be
   excluded from the conversation. We endeavor to engage, educate, and inspire all
   youth to take action to solve the global water crisis.
