Hello, my name is Lexie, a student at Westridge School for Girls and a Water Warrior! The Westridge Water Warriors have been helping build clean water wells and provide access to clean water in developing countries since 2012. There is an urgent need for the implementation of safe water, sanitation, and hygiene education projects in many schools around the world. Having access to clean water improves the health and learning performance of students and increases student attendance and time in class when facilities are available on school grounds. The funds raised this year will go towards building multiple water lines for houses in the Appalachias and sanitation stations at two schools in Uganda and Kenya. I will also be participating in a Walk for Water, which involves walking for 3 miles while carrying 2 gallons of water to simulate part of the journey many women and young girls make every day in order to get water.
