I am raising money for a school called Nyaka School in Uganda. They provide free education for kids who lost parents to the HIV/AIDS virus. These orphans are not only facing the COVID-19 pandemic with all of us, they are living with the effects of the HIV/AIDS virus and they lack access to clean water.
Here are some details about the school:
Mission of Nyaka School: To provide free education to children who have lost one or both parents to HIV/AIDS.
Water Project at Nyaka School: Harvesting rainwater is the best option to obtain and store water. Our project will install two 10,000-liter water tanks to harvest and store rainwater.
Water Sources for Nyaka Students:
There is a spring outside of Nyaka almost 1 kilometer (.6 miles) away which is shared with the community. During the dry season, the spring dries up and can’t provide any water.
Water can also be fetched from two streams but they are far away from the school. One is 2 kilometers (1.2 miles) away, and known to dry up in the dry season. The other stream has never dried up, but it’s 8 kilometers (5 miles) away, making for a long walk back and forth from Nyaka.
Thank you so much for your help!
Love, Arik
