Ava Elliott
Hi! I am raising money to help a school in Uganda improve water sanitation and lavatories!
Did you know...
*Every 20 seconds, a child dies from lack of access to clean water.
*Women and children in many communities spend up to 60 percent of each day walking to collect water.
*4,500 children die each day due to unsafe water and a lack of basic sanitation.
*Without access to a latrine, many girls stop going to school around the age of 13.
There is an urgent need for implementation of safe water, sanitation and hygiene education projects (WASH in Schools) for schools around the world. The addition of WASH facilities improves the health and learning performance of students by reducing the incidence of water and sanitation related diseases. Student attendance and time in class also increases when facilities are available on school grounds.
On May 3rd, I will be participating in a water walk with my school to experience what it is like to walk a long way carrying water. We will be walking 1.3 miles from my school to White Bear Lake, while carrying a gallon of water.
Please donate to my fundraiser. Anything you can give is a huge help!
Thank you,
Ava Elliott, 5th Grade
