An important part of the visual arts is communicating important things. This year as part of the curriculum I wanted to incorporate projects that would engage the students into making positive changes in the world with their art work. Right now, the number one thing we could do that would make a huge difference is getting more people access to clean water. Looking to our own world the atmosphere and ocean are warming through the use of fossil fuels, nitrous oxides, deforestation and fertilizers, pollution acidity in our oceans that are releasing sky rocketing amounts green house gases. This climate crises is unprecedented in it’s scale and complexity and I feel compelled to find ways to help. In the last few years our endangered species has tripled and clean water is the number one killer of people and animals. In the next few years half of our animal species will be wiped out.
