Project
Good Samaritan Nursery and Primary School
Project Complete!
Good Samaritan School is located in a community privately founded by a well known local priest. The school enrollment is made up of 307 pupils, of which 30 have disabilities.
There is a high incidence of water borne disease, especially for those with disabilities, due to inaccessible latrines and poor sanitary conditions. Wheelchair users have to crawl down in order to reach the latrine openings and they end up touching the filthy floor. This has led to a 65% dropout rate for these particular students.
This project will provide 2 new accessible latrine blocks and handwashing facilities for all the pupils along with the implementation of a hygiene education program in the classroom. Pupils with and without disabilities will be in position to acquire a quality education.
H2O for Life is not a WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene) project implementer. We have partnerships with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) implementing WASH in Schools projects around the world. Our NGO partners match funds needed for each school project. We also have a generous donor that provides us with an interest-free loan that, along with matching funds, allows for many projects to be started or possibly even completed before total funds have been raised. In rare situations we reserve the right to reallocate funds to alternate project(s).
