Wangui Primary School is located in Ndaragwa division, Kathuha location, Ngamini sub –location.
The only available storage for rainwater is one small plastic tank that was donated by the community and this serves as the main water storage structures. Wangui has good rainwater harvesting potential as the area experiences high rainfall. During the dry spell, the school gets water from a nearby community water pan. Wangui Primary School has a total population of 333 (pupils and teachers). According to the assessment conducted in February 2013. It was noted that the school draws its raw water from a nearby stream 50 meters away from the compound. The school has good roof catchment though, not tapped. The sanitation situation is characterized by poor hygienic conditions, almost collapsing.
This project will include rainwater catchment, new latrines, a handwashing station and hygiene education.
H2O for Life partners with experienced NGO organizations around the world that build and support clean water, sanitation, and hygiene education projects in schools. These NGO partners cover half the total cost of every project funded through H2O for Life.
When students raise money for a project, 90% of the funds go directly to the project, and 10% supports the work that makes the project possible. This includes choosing trusted partners, managing funds responsibly, checking on projects, and reporting back so students can see the impact of their work.
This helps ensure every project is done well, stays sustainable, and truly changes lives.
In rare situations, we reserve the right to reallocate funds to alternate project(s).
