Project Complete!
Typical day of a student: Mileydi López Chavarría is 17 years old and in grade 6. Her day starts are 4am, helping her mom prepare breakfast, cleaning the house and washing clothes by hand. Afterwards, she gets ready for school and walks over about 800 meters from her home. School starts at 7:30am and goes to 1pm. In the afternoons, she works as a maid, earning c$400 ($16US) each month. She does her homework at night. Saturday and Sunday she works as well. Her hope is to continue her studies into high school.
H2O for Life is not a WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene) project implementer. We have partnerships with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) implementing WASH in Schools projects around the world. Our NGO partners match funds needed for each school project. We also have a generous donor that provides us with an interest-free loan that, along with matching funds, allows for many projects to be started or possibly even completed before total funds have been raised. In rare situations we reserve the right to reallocate funds to alternate project(s).
