Typical day for a student: José Tomás Duarte Fargas is 12 and in 5th grade. He likes Spanish and grammar because it helps him understand his readings. He walks 20 minutes to get to school. He has 3 sisters and one is in 3rd grade. His other sisters have finished primary already. He gets up at 5:30am to help his mother collecting water about 50 meters from their home. Then he helps his dad milk the cows (they have about 10). Then he bathes and gets ready for school. He is usually home by 1:30pm. After a short rest, he does his homework, then helps his mom collect more water for dinner. He goes to bed around 8pm.
H2O for Life is not a WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene) project implementer. We have partnerships with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) implementing WASH in Schools projects around the world. Our NGO partners match funds needed for each school project. We also have a generous donor that provides us with an interest-free loan that, along with matching funds, allows for many projects to be started or possibly even completed before total funds have been raised. In rare situations we reserve the right to reallocate funds to alternate project(s).
