Ibaning’ombe Primary School
- Health & Disease Risks: Students are currently required to fetch water from an untreated stream 1.5 kilometers away. Consuming this contaminated water exposes the entire school community to dangerous waterborne illnesses, including diarrhea, typhoid, and cholera.
- Sanitation & Menstrual Hygiene Management: Without water, school latrines cannot be cleaned regularly, creating unsanitary conditions. Furthermore, the lack of proper handwashing facilities and dedicated water for menstrual hygiene forces adolescent girls to miss school during their periods, directly worsening the gender attendance gap.
- Academic Loss: Children spend hours each day carrying heavy water containers across long distances instead of being in the classroom. The physical exhaustion and lost instruction time directly contribute to lower concentration and declining academic performance.
H2O for Life partners with experienced NGO organizations around the world that build and support clean water, sanitation, and hygiene education projects in schools. These NGO partners cover half the total cost of every project funded through H2O for Life.
When students raise money for a project, 90% of the funds go directly to the project, and 10% supports the work that makes the project possible. This includes choosing trusted partners, managing funds responsibly, checking on projects, and reporting back so students can see the impact of their work.
This helps ensure every project is done well, stays sustainable, and truly changes lives.
