Nasaruni Academy and High School serves 280 girls from the most rural and impoverished areas of Kenya-Narok County. The Maasai girlchild is indeed one of the most underserved in the Kenyan state and East Africa. Thankfully, her plight is becoming more well-known as she faces early marriage and retrogressive cultural practices of FGM. The answer to raising the Maasai girl to her potential is through education. Nasaruni Academy was founded by Alice and Moses Sayo to offer these girls the hope and education they deserve.
The influx of more girls into school is a really good problem to have. We are grateful to support the education of so many of the most vulnerable. The increasing student population is putting great strain on the school's current systems, especially the latrines and washing stations. There is a significant need for more latrines equipped with flushing toilets, as they help prevent the accumulation of flies and diseases that are common in traditional latrines. Overcrowded conditions can lead to illness, and we want Nasaruni to be a safe and healthy place.
Bathrooms with flushing toilets will be built on school grounds.
H2O for Life partners with experienced NGO organizations around the world that build and support clean water, sanitation, and hygiene education projects in schools. These NGO partners cover half the total cost of every project funded through H2O for Life.
When students raise money for a project, 90% of the funds go directly to the project, and 10% supports the work that makes the project possible. This includes choosing trusted partners, managing funds responsibly, checking on projects, and reporting back so students can see the impact of their work.
This helps ensure every project is done well, stays sustainable, and truly changes lives.
In rare situations, we reserve the right to reallocate funds to alternate project(s).
