Project
Matongo Primary School
Matongo Primary School is in Kabulosoke B Village in the rural district of Gomba, Uganda.
Over 425 students and teachers share the chore of walking a 2-kilometer journey to collect heavy, unclean water. The school also lacks filtration for clean water. These children have been waiting for a very long time for clean water filters for their classrooms and a reliable, ample water supply on site.
Based on the school buildings and roof catchment area, our implementing partner, Drink Local Drink Tap, has co-created the best water solutions with the school and community. This will include three classroom water filters, a 10,000-liter rainwater harvesting system, and the development and training of a school WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene Education) committee for the long-term management and sustainability of the project.
H2O for Life is not a WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene) project implementer. We have partnerships with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) implementing WASH in Schools projects around the world. Our NGO partners match funds needed for each school project. We also have a generous donor that provides us with an interest-free loan that, along with matching funds, allows for many projects to be started or possibly even completed before total funds have been raised. In rare situations we reserve the right to reallocate funds to alternate project(s).
