Subego Primary School in Ngamini sub-location, Kahutha location, Ndaragwa division, Nyandarua North sub-County, Nyandarua County. The school has total population of 263 (121 girls, 131 boys and 11 teachers). The School WASH project was identified during a situational analysis carried out by KRA in collaboration with the partnering local community, which requested for assistance after learning about the program from other schools that had already benefited.
The project comprised of four main components: (a) renovation of a 100m3 masonry rainwater storage tank (inlet and water draw-off hand-washing facility); (b) installation of gutters including a foul-flush system; (c) construction of gender-segregated VIP latrines (blocks for girls (including upgrading of an existing semi-permanent block), and teachers); and (d) training of pupils and community on good sanitation and hygiene practices.
H2O for Life partners with experienced NGO organizations around the world that build and support clean water, sanitation, and hygiene education projects in schools. These NGO partners cover half the total cost of every project funded through H2O for Life.
When students raise money for a project, 90% of the funds go directly to the project, and 10% supports the work that makes the project possible. This includes choosing trusted partners, managing funds responsibly, checking on projects, and reporting back so students can see the impact of their work.
This helps ensure every project is done well, stays sustainable, and truly changes lives.
In rare situations, we reserve the right to reallocate funds to alternate project(s).
