Project
Buyubu Primary School
Project Complete!
Buyubu Primary School is located in the village of Buyubu, sub-county Nawanyingi, in the Iganga District of Uganda. The current school enrollment is 343 girls and 368 boys.
The school does not have a well, so they get water from a community well at a local trading center. The trading center is 1 km away from the school, so the students walk just over a mile to get there and back every time they need water. The school’s headteacher tried hiring a laborer to go and fetch water for the school, which worked for a while, but it turned out to be unsustainable as the school soon ran out of money. The long walk and long wait times at the well is causing the students to miss a lot of classroom time, so the school urgently needs its own well.
Project Proposal: New Borehole Well
Our implementing partner, Drop in the Bucket, will drill a well that will provide safe water on the school grounds.

H2O for Life is not a WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene) project implementer. We have partnerships with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) implementing WASH in Schools projects around the world. Our NGO partners match funds needed for each school project. We also have a generous donor that provides us with an interest-free loan that, along with matching funds, allows for many projects to be started or possibly even completed before total funds have been raised. In rare situations we reserve the right to reallocate funds to alternate project(s).
