GRAVIS Educational Program
GRAVIS, based in the Thar Desert, is committed to spreading education among underprivileged groups of the population. GRAVIS has been working in the region for the last 40 years, and primary education has been a key activity for the organization. With support from its donors, GRAVIS sets up schools in the most needy village locations and ensures that the maximum number of girls and children from lower castes and tribes can attend the schools. With support from H2O for Life Schools, GRAVIS has supported Jhariya Primary School village with basic school amenities, awareness, and healthcare for school children.
- Create awareness on water, health & nutrition among school children.
- Ensure safe drinking water in school through bio-sand filters.
- Enhance the school environment by providing learning and sports materials, as well as primary health care facilities..
- Provide digital education to ensure a better future for rural children.

Water, Nutrition and Health Awareness Camp for children
Two Water, Nutrition, and Health sessions have been organized for students of Jhariya School. These trainings aim to educate children about their water, nutrition, and health needs. The importance of clean drinking water, personal hygiene, and nutritional needs such as vitamins, minerals, carbohydrates, proteins, and fats has been discussed in these sessions.
- Washing hands before and after eating
- Washing hands after using the toilet
- Water filtration and judicial use of water
- Understanding of Health and Nutrition
- Diversification of food basket (use of locally available food)
Children enjoyed these trainings and raised many questions.
Health Check-up Camp
A health camp was organized for school children to diagnose and provide immediate relief for common seasonal diseases. Regular health checkups were also part of the camp. GRAVIS Hospital organized one camp at the school, attended by a trained physician, a school teacher, and a social worker. The camp addressed seasonal diseases, waterborne diseases, vitamin A deficiency, fever, coughs and colds, eye diseases, and other child-related health issues. Parents appreciated this initiative, as they often lack the resources to visit hospitals. Two such camps have been organized for school children. GRAVIS also painted the school with messages promoting cleanliness and the use of safe drinking water.
