STEM - Rain Gardens
Learning Targets:
- I will research and gather information about rain gardens. What is their purpose? How do they improve the environment? (SCIENCE)
- I will persuade my audience to put in a rain garden by creating a public service announcement on the benefits of a rain garden (TECHNOLOGY)
- I will design a map of my rain garden identifying perimeter, surface areas, and angles in which the land should be developed. (ENGINEERING, MATH)
- I will calculate the cost of my rain garden. (MATH)
Procedure
- In this activity, students will research rain gardens to find out about purpose, how they work, where they are placed, how much they cost, etc.
- They will then use their skills of persuasion and writing to create a proposal for the installation of rain gardens in their community.
