Hi, my name is Ela Koepke!
I am a part of a club called Water Warriors that raises awareness about the lack of clean drinking water all over the world. There is an urgent need for implementation of safe water, sanitation and hygiene education projects (WASH in Schools) for schools around the world. The addition of WASH facilities improves the health and learning performance of students by reducing the incidence of water and sanitation related diseases. Student attendance and time in class also increases when facilities are available on school grounds. This upcoming year we are supporting 3 different schools, one in Ghana, one in Kenya, and one in Sierra Leone. Many students walk many miles to fetch water multiple times a day. Some of the children have to skip some classes to get water.
On November 6th Water Warriors is having a fundraiser where we will walk with 1 gallon of water for 3 miles to feel what it is like to be one of these students.
